As the centuries marched on, disasters and calamities caused magic to become more and more mysterious – any wizard would agree that much knowledge has been lost over time. However, in recent decades, the world has begun to change. Many of the old ways have been rediscovered or relearnt, and Rhadamia itself thrums with expectation. Alongside the magical renaissance is a technological one. Naval advances allow ships to traverse the oceans, airships allow for reliable travel across most types of terrain, and gunpowder has spread from the workshops of Zhian. Nations race to utilise these advances, many of them rushing to grab land wherever they believe they can lay a claim to it. And with the new wealth moving along the shipping lines, piracy has begun to make its presence known.
